I have learned that as a designer you sometimes will get stuck in your own way of working. Sometimes it is good to stop, take a step back, evaluate and redo your design. The best example was a recent client where I decided to change a logo after the other logo’s that I made where approved but “just ok” to the client.
After doing a briefing with the client I had the idea for his logo and started working on it right away. After making some drafts I passed up the final logo’s to him to choose from. He liked the logo’s but mentioned that they where “just ok” and similar to other 4×4 event logo’s.
After his comments I decided to trash the made logo’s en evaluate what he said to me. It was only then that I knew that something very different needed to be made. I changed to logo shape to a more unusual 4×4 logo and added some fresh outstanding colors together with some objects popping out in the logo. After showing him the new logo’s he was very happy and surprised with the new results. It proves that sometimes you need to stop, evaluate and if needed start all over in order to satisfy not only your client, but also yourself.
